About Ali

Welcome to A Doll’s Picnic! I’m an avid play doll collector and enthusiast–which means I’m all grown up, but I still play with dolls. I began collecting dolls as an adult beginning with American Girl dolls, but I’ve recently been branching out and started exploring several of the other beautiful brands and lines of play dolls available on the market today. My collection is constantly changing and evolving as I discover and fall in love with new dolls. It took me years to discover that collecting dolls as an adult is not “weird” or even unusual. If you’re an adult collector, you’re in good company!

The world of dolls is vast and full of so many interesting and wonderful treasures. My goals for this blog are 1) to share the love, joy, innocence, and imagination that play dolls bring to our lives, 2) to share the diversity available in the world of play dolls today, and 3) to offer information about the many options available to parents and collectors. I plan to review the dolls I find the most interesting, and compare/contrast American Girl dolls with play dolls made by other manufacturers.

I’m a figure skater, writer and artist, and I’m passionate about creativity, artistic journaling, poetry, animals and nature. I love gardens, knitting, yarn stores, tea time, good poems, children’s literature and nineteenth century women’s literature. I live with my husband, ten adopted cats, a Pug named Jessie, and two rescued rabbits in the mountains of Northern California, where I wish it would rain more often. I think there is no excuse for growing out of your imagination, and that expressing your individuality is the best thing you can do for the world. I hope you enjoy my blog.

Wonderfully presented blog and written by what you can clearly see is a true doll lover!

All our doll nannies, experts and packers here at at Bonnie & Pearl have been looking through all entries and we love how beautifully it is written with the attention to detail on posing the dolls in the most imaginative way.

Thank you Ali for sharing with us!

I am a 60 year old Grammy whose childhood love of dolls was rekindled after the birth of my granddaughter. Your blog is lovely. Your “About Ali” post is idlyic and I could picture your home in my mind’s eye. Your doll world is enchanting.

I saw your blog on Jackylina’s blog, and I really like it! 🙂 I have one question, though: could you put a “follow by email” button on the sidebar? I don’t have a WordPress account. Thanks! 🙂
